Two teens charged with firearm theft

FORT FRANCES — Two teens have been arrested after a firearm was reported stolen from a local residence last month.

On Sept. 28, Rainy River District OPP reported a theft of a firearm from a vehicle on Christie Avenue in Fort Frances.

Soon after, officers initiated their investigation into the incident asking to public for assistance.  

As a result, a 13-year-old and a 17-year-old have been arrested and charged with multiple offences under the Youth Criminal Justice Act including possession, breaking and entering of a motor vehicle, thief under $5000, and mischief under $5000.

The 13-year-old has an additional charge of trafficking the firearm.

Both accused are being held in custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances at a later date.
