Two Dryden residents face drug trafficking charges

A traffic stop on Highway 502 uncovered crack and cocaine and resulted in a Dryden man and woman facing drug trafficking charges.

DRYDEN, Ont. - A traffic stop on Highway 502 has resulted in two Dryden residents facing drug charges.

According to a media release issued by the Ontario Provincial Police, officers with the OPP, Crime Enforcement Bureau, and Treaty Three Police Service conducted a traffic stop on Highway 502 in the District of Kenora on Oct. 8 just after 7 p.m.

During the stop, police seized cocaine, crack, and other items consistent with evidence of drug trafficking.

A 58-year-old Dryden man was charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking and failing to comply with a release order.

A 35-year-old woman, also of Dryden, was charged with possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purposes of trafficking and obstructing a peace officer.

The two accused have been remanded into custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Friday.
