Two charged in death of Whitefish Bay First Nation man

NAOTKAMEGWANNING FIRST NATION — Two people are facing charges in the death of a 45-year-old man, whose body was found in Northwest Angle 33 First Nation.

Provincial police said the two people were arrested on Tuesday and Wednesday, with one charged with second degree murder in the death of Buifford Cowley.

Cowley was reported missing on Sept. 4 and his remains were later found by Treaty Three Police, the OPP North West Region Crime Unit, and the OPP Canine unit.

Timothy Constant Lowe, a 29-year-old from Naotkamegwanning First Nation, is charged with second degree murder and indignity to a dead body.

Sierra Cowley, a 23-year-old from Kenora, is charged with accessory after the fact to murder and indignity to a dead body.

Both remain in custody and are scheduled to appear in a Kenora court on Thursday.

Police said the investigation is ongoing.
