Two people face charges after a police investigation into drug trafficking in Wabaseemoong Independent Nations.

Treaty Three Police Service said an investigation was conducted on Monday, which led to the seizure of drugs with an estimated street value of $20,000.

Police seized quantities of cocaine, crack cocaine, fentanyl, marijuana, and cash.

A 39-year-old woman and a 31-year-old woman each face multiple counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Both have been released from custody and are expected to appear in a Kenora court at a later date.

"With the growing concerns of illicit drugs in First Nations, the Treaty Three Police Service is mandated to investigate local community drug dealers and their illegal activities and lay appropriate charges," police said in a news release.
