Two arrested for credit card fraud in Fort Frances

Provincial police said officers on Saturday responded to a report of suspected credit card fraud at the business, where numerous transactions were made to buy lottery tickets and gift cards.

FORT FRANCES — Two people from Calgary are charged with fraud after allegedly using altered credit cards at a local business.

Provincial police said officers on Saturday responded to a report of suspected credit card fraud at the business, where numerous transactions were made to buy lottery tickets and gift cards.

Police said the investigation determined that altered credit cards and identity documents were fraudulently used.

A 47-year-old and 34-year-old are charged with fraud under $5,000 and possession or use of a forged or falsified credit card. The 47-year-old is also charged with three counts of failure to comply with a release order.

Both remain in custody and are expected to appear in a Fort Frances courtroom on Thursday.
