Treaty Three Police Service welcomes two new members

Pilot Program at the Treaty Three Police Service South Detachment, has facilitated the successful welcome of two new members to the service.

FORT FRANCES-- Treaty Three Police Service is happy to welcome two new members to the service. Ericka Heil and Joel Ottertail, a member of Lac La Croix First Nation, have recently graduated from the Northern Ontario Cadet Program at the Provincial Police Academy.

The new cadets are part of a Pilot Program at the Treaty Three Police Service South Detachment which facilitates for mentoring and development of Indigenous and under-represented candidates to better support Treaty Three Police Service, in their diversification goal.

According to their announcement, “Ericka and Joel will perform public service duties and assist T3PS officers. These will include assisting with evidence, verifying witness information and data, assisting with court administration functions, and accompanying officers on patrols and to events. By working within a police environment, they will obtain knowledge, skills, and experience required for a potential career in policing.”
