UPDATED: Highway 17 near Dryden fully open after transport fire

Ontario 511 reported the incident shortly after 10 p.m. CT Wednesday, announced full reopening just before 4 p.m. CT Thursday.

A vehicle fire partially closed Highway 17 Wednesday night and for most of the day Thursday.

DRYDEN — Ontario 511 says Highway 17 near Dryden is fully open after a vehicle fire partially closed a section of the Trans-Canada Highway for over 16 hours.

The provincial travel information service reported shortly after 10:00 p.m. CT on Wednesday that the westbound lane was blocked.

The incident happened near Mackie Road, near Egli's Sheep Farm.

Shortly before 4 p.m. CT Thursday, Ontario 511 announced the highway had fully reopened.
