Train derailment is no cause for concern: CPKC

Train derailment near Kenora has no injuries or threat to public safety.

KENORA – A spokesperson with the American-owned Canada Pacific Railway has confirmed that one of their trains had derailed around 4 p.m. in a remote area east of Kenora on Wednesday.

CPKC said, “there were no injuries and there is no threat to public safety.”

They stated that 11 cars carrying intermodal shipping containers had come off the tracks.

None of the cars involved were carrying dangerous goods.

CPKC crews are on site and working on the clean-up.

The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
