KENORA — A local 40-year-old resident faces guns and drugs charges after a traffic stop.

Provincial police said a Kenora OPP officer stopped a suspected suspended driver on Lakeview Drive on the afternoon of June 8.

That stop led to officers finding drugs and a handgun in the vehicle.

The accused, 40-year-old Michael Kolisnik, is charged with cocaine possession for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a firearm while prohibited, occupying a motor vehicle knowing there was a firearm, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime.

The accused has been held in custody and is scheduled for a bail hearing on Tuesday.

The charges have yet to be tested in court.
