One person faces several charges, while another was arrested on a Canada-wide warrant, after a weekend traffic stop in Manitou Rapids.

Provincial police said officers stopped a vehicle that was observed being operated unsafely on Highway 11 just after 11:30 p.m. on Feb. 17.

Police said the ensuing traffic stop determined the driver was impaired by drug. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery of suspected methamphetamine, break-in tools, stolen property linked to a series of mischiefs and thefts from local postal boxes, as well as a spring-loaded knife and throwing knives.

A 27-year-old from Nestor Falls is charged with impaired operation, possession of methamphetamine, possession of an article stolen from mail, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, theft under $5,000, and possession of break-in instruments.

A 31-year-old from Winnipeg was arrested on the national warrant and returned to the Department of Corrections.
