Traffic stop leads to impaired driving charges

RED LAKE – A traffic stop late last week has resulted in impaired driving charges for a Red Lake resident.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle on Friday, Aug. 5 around 4:13 p.m. along Highway 125.

Red Lake, Ear Falls OPP say through investigation, it was determined the operator of the motor vehicle was showing signs of impairment and the officer made a demand for a Standard Field Sobriety Test

The driver performed poorly, was placed under arrest, and returned to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, a 31-year-old, of Red Lake, was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).

She was released by way of undertaking for Red Lake court on Sept. 15, 2022 at 9 a.m. to answer to the charges.
