RED LAKE -- A traffic stop late Friday has resulted in impaired driving charges for a Quebec resident.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers initiated a traffic stop on Saturday, Aug. 19 around 11:10 p.m. along Highway 125 within the Municipality of Red Lake.
Police said through investigation, it was determined the operator of the motor vehicle had been consuming alcohol.
The officer made a demand for an approved screening device breath sample. The driver failed, was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation, a 35-year-old of Quebec, was charged with operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
He was released by way of undertaking for Red Lake court on Oct. 20, 2022 to answer to the charges.
