Traffic stop leads to drug-related charges

A 19-year-old Dryden resident is facing drug-related charges.

A Dryden resident is facing charges following a traffic stop on Tuesday, May 3, 2022.

DRYDEN -- An afternoon traffic stop has resulted in charges for one Dryden resident.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers initiated a traffic stop on Tuesday, May 3 around 2:05 p.m. for a Highway Traffic Act offence on Boozhoo Avenue.

Police say the operator of the vehicle was a suspended driver.

Further investigation revealed the driver was in possession of a quantity of suspected cocaine.

Officers also seized items consistent with drug trafficking and Canadian currency.

As a result of the investigation; Cypress LAWSON, 19, of Dryden has been charged with possession of schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking - cocaine and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

The accused has been released from custody and will appear in the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on June 13, 2022 to answer to the charges.
