Traffic stop leads to drug and weapons charges in Dryden

Dryden OPP and NAPS have laid multiple drug and weapons charges against a resident.

DRYDEN – During a traffic stop on West River Road, officers found suspected cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine, and morphine inside the vehicle.  

With the suspected number of illicit substances found, OPP and NAPS issued a warrant to investigate the driver's home. Inside the home, officers found two prohibited weapons, ammunition, and further evidence of drug trafficking.

As a result, a 45-year-old was arrested and charged with four counts of drug trafficking, two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon, two counts of possession of a prohibited weapon and one count of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order, and proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000.

The accused was remanded into custody at the Kenora District Jail where they are scheduled to appear before the count on December 27.
