Traffic stop leads to charges in Ear Falls

A 33-year-old is facing numerous charges following a traffic stop on Monday night.

EAR FALLS --  A late night traffic stop in Ear Falls has led to charges for one Red Lake resident.

Red Lake and Ear Falls OPP initiated a traffic stop on a motor vehicle along Chestnut Street on Monday, April 25.

Police say it was determined that the operator of the motor vehicle had been consuming alcohol.

The operator was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests. Once at detachment, the operator refused to provide suitable samples of breath.

As a result of the investigation, a 33-year-old of Red Lake, was charged with:

  • One count of operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs
  • One count of failure or refusal to comply with demand
  • One count of possession of a schedule I substance - methamphetamine
  • One count of explosives - making or possessing for unlawful purpose (Dual/Hybrid)
  • One count of disobey stop sign - stop wrong place
  • One count of driving while under suspension

He was released by way of Undertaking for Red Lake court on June 16, 2022 to answer to the charges.
