Traffic complaint leads to impaired driving charges

An Atikokan resident is facing impaired driving charges following a weekend traffic stop.

ATIKOKAN -- An afternoon traffic complaint has resulted in impaired driving charges for one Atikokan resident.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers received a traffic complaint on Saturday, Aug. 27 around 4:40 p.m. for a possible impaired driver in Atikokan.

Police found the vehicle and conducted a traffic stop.

After speaking with the driver, the driver was arrested at the scene and transported to the detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, a 40-year-old of Atikokan has been charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus)

The accused was released from police custody and is scheduled to appear in the Ontario Court of Justice on Oct. 19, 2022 in Atikokan Ontario.
