Traffic complaint leads to impaired driving charges

Police have charged on person with impaired driving charges over the weekend.

DRYDEN -- A traffic complaint Sunday evening has led to impaired charges for one Dryden resident.

According to Dryden Ontario Provincial Police, officers received a traffic complaint on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. of a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed westbound on Highway 17.

Police say officers located the suspect vehicle on Highway 17 in the City of Dryden and conducted a traffic stop.

During the course of the investigation, the investigating officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.

The driver was arrested and brought to the Dryden Detachment for further testing.

As a result, a 37-year-old of Dryden has been charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired - blood concentration (80 plus).

A 90-day Administrative Driver's License Suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden at a later date to answer to the charges.
