DRYDEN – According to Environment Canada, a line of thunderstorms is making its way across Northwestern Ontario, which includes parts of the Kenora and Rainy River districts.

Environment Canada said the main threats with these series of thunderstorms will be strong wind gusts and a tornado threat.

These conditions are favourable for wind gusts up to 100 kilometres per hour, large hail and heavy rain.

Environment Canada advises the public to be prepared for severe weather and take cover immediately if threatening weather, such as hail, approaches.

In the event of a tornado, Environment Canada recommends staying indoors in a room on the lowest floor, away from outside walls and windows, such as a basement, bathroom, stairwell or interior closet.

Leave mobile homes, vehicles, tents, trailers and other temporary or free-standing shelters, and move to a strong building.

Lie in a low spot and protect your head from flying debris as a last resort.
