Tornado warning issued for parts of Northwestern Ontario

Kakabeka Falls, Whitefish Lake, Arrow Lake, Atikokan, Shebandowan and Quetico Park are all in the potential danger zone, should a tornado form.

A tornado warning has been issued for parts of Northwestern Ontario.

THUNDER BAY - A tornado warning has been issued for parts of Northwestern Ontario. 

Environment Canada issued the warning on Sunday morning, saying conditions exist for the formation of tornadoes, noting meteorologists are tracking a severe thunder storm that is expected to descend on the region. 

Communities affected include Kakabeka Falls, Whitefish Lake, Arrow Lake, Atikokan, Shebandowan and Quetico Park. 

Damaging winds, large hail and locally intense rainfall are also possible. 

Environment Canada warns the public to take cover immediately if threatening weather approaches. 

The storm is located 23 kilometres southeast of Greenwater Lake and moving east at 70 kilometres an hour.
