NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO -- Environment Canada has issued a thunderstorm warning for parts of the region
The government weather agency says conditions are favourable for the development of severe thunderstorms early Monday morning that may be capable of producing strong wind gusts, large hail and heavy rain.
An area of thunderstorms is approaching from Minnesota.
The main threats will be nickel sized hail, and wind gusts to 90 kilometres an hour. Torrential downpours are also possible.
The threat of severe thunderstorms will end later this morning, however there is the potential for the redevelopment of severe thunderstorms again later Monday afternoon or evening.
Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for:
- Fort Frances - Emo - Rainy River
- Seine River Village - Mine Centre
- Atikokan - Shebandowan - Quetico Park
