Three more candidates in Fort Frances

Fort Frances adds two more candidates for the upcoming municipal election and one nominee for Rainy River English public school.

FORT FRANCES – With the nomination period ending on Aug. 19, Fort Frances has two more candidates on its lists of nominees.

Out of the six council positions, only four candidates have filed for councillor-at-large.  

Incumbent Wendy Brunetta filed her nomination form on Aug. 12 for the councillor-at-large position while Mandi Olson filed on Aug. 15.

Both Brunetta and Olson with be running alongside Incumbent Mike Behan and Kaleb Firth.

Currently, no resident has filled to take over for Mayor.

For the Rainy River District School Board for the Town of Fort Frances and the unorganized areas of Watten, Halkirk, Mine Centre and unsurveyed Wards 16, 18, 19, 23 and 24, Michael William Graham will run for English public trustee.

Out of 2 positions to be filled, Graham is the only one running at this time.

There is still plenty of room and plenty of time to get those nomination forms into the municipality office.

The deadline for nominations for the 2022 municipal elections ends Aug. 19 at 2 p.m. local time.
