Three men arrested for drug possession and trafficking in Ear Falls

OPP arrested three individuals for possession and trafficking of meth, cocaine, and hydromorphone pills.

RED LAKE - On Sept. 7, members of the Red Lake/Ear Falls Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police Community Street Crime Unit conducted a routine traffic stop on Highway 105 within the Township of Ear Falls.

During the investigation, the occupants of the motor vehicle were found to have controlled substances and were placed under arrest.

Following the traffic stop, the OPP CSCU, Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, and Provincial Operational Intelligence Bureau obtained a search warrant for John Polkinghorne of Ear Falls and found 30 grams of Methamphetamine, a gram of Cocaine, 19 Hydromorphone pills, digital scales, 2 canisters of bear mace, 2 knives, and $1,200 in Canadian currency

As a result of the investigations, the following persons have been charged:

Christopher Flett, 33, of Winnipeg, Manitoba:

  • 1x Possession of Cocaine
  • 1x Possession for the purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
  • 1x Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada
  • 1x Possession of a Weapon for a dangerous purpose
  • 2x Failure to comply with release order - other than to attend court

John Polkinghorne, 25, of Ear Falls:

  • 1x Possession for the purpose of Trafficking - Methamphetamine
  • 1x Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5000 - in Canada

Stuart Smith, 58, of Machin:

  • 1x Possession - Methamphetamine,
  • 1x Possession - Cocaine
  • 1x Possession of Opioid (other than heroin)

John Polkinghorne was released to appear in Red Lake court on Oct. 20.

 Stuart Smith was released to appear in Red Lake court on Nov. 17.

Christopher Flett was held overnight pending a bail hearing and was further remanded and held in custody.
