Three charged with drug trafficking on the same day

Officers with the Sioux Lookout OPP have arrested and charged three individuals in two separate incidences of drug trafficking.

SIOUX LOOKOUT – OPP Northwest Region stated that after conducting two separate investigations the Sioux Lookout OPP Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) laid trafficking charges of illicit drugs within the Municipality on May 9.

Officers conducted a traffic stop at the Ed Ariano Bypass in the early morning. During the investigation, two occupants of the vehicle were placed under arrest for possession of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, and prescription medication, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia, Canadian currency, and unmarked cigarettes.

As a result, a 39-year-old and a 47-year-old from Thunder Bay were charged with drug trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

Furthermore, in the late afternoon, officers located and arrested one individual for failing to comply with a release. According to OPP Northwest Region, the individual was under conditions stemming from drug-related charges that were laid in March.

During the arrest, police seized suspected fentanyl and cocaine, as well as drug trafficking paraphernalia and Canadian currency.

A 27-year-old from Sioux Lookout was arrested and charged with trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime, failure to comply with an undertaking, and failure to attend fingerprinting.

All accused remain in police custody and will appear in bail court on May 10.
