Teen faces drug trafficking charges after hotel arrest

SIOUX LOOKOUT — A 19-year-old woman is in custody and facing drug-trafficking charges after an investigation in Sioux Lookout.

Ontario Provincial Police said, in a release issued on Tuesday, they were called to a hotel in the Northern Ontario community at about 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, following a report of suspected drug paraphernalia.

Police subsequently found suspected methamphetamine and cocaine, as well as drug-trafficking paraphernalia.

The accused, who calls Sioux Lookout home, was charged with two counts of possession of a Schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime, four counts of failing to comply with a probation order and one count of failing to comply with a release order.

The teen has been remanded into custody ahead of a bail court hearing on Tuesday.
