THUNDER BAY — People and organizations in Northwestern Ontario may now submit applications for grants from the Tbaytel for Good Community Fund.

This year, three $10,000 grants are available.

In an announcement Monday, Tbaytel said it was inviting teachers, students, parents, volunteers, not-for-profits, coaches, community members, and associations from across its service area to apply for support for "a deserving project, idea or initiative."

"We saw in 2021 when the grant funding was increased to $10,000 that it can really be a game-changer for people and organizations in our region," said spokesperson Jamie Smith.

"We're asking everyone to think about what good they could do with $10,000 to make a difference in our region and make a submission," Smith added.

The program is designed to be inclusive by supporting projects of all different scopes.

Submissions can range from equipment and supplies to the development of new client programming or creating safe and healthy spaces in the community.

Previous successful applications have supported education programming, community patrols, arts projects and numerous other initiatives.

Semi-finalists will be selected by a judging panel and announced on Oct. 6, 2022, with the winners being determined  through public voting that will take place over the following 12 days.
