FORT FRANCES -- A 25-year-old Manitoba resident is faces a charge of stunt driving after police observed him travelling 170 kilometres an hour in a posted 60 kilometres an hour zone.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers were conducting radar enforcement on Tuesday, June 21 on Highway 11 near Littlefork Road when they observed a vehicle travelling in the eastbound lane at an extremely high rate of speed.
Police say the vehicle was travelling in excess of 170 kilometres an hour in an area with a posted speed limit of 60 km/h.
After stopping the vehicle, a 25-year-old of Buffalo Point, MB. was arrested and charged with race a motor vehicle.
The driver was also charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired - blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
The accused is scheduled to appear before an Ontario Court of Justice in Rainy River on Oct. 26, 2022.
