DRYDEN – It has been an interesting couple of years for recreational facilities having to close their summer events due to the pandemic; however, summer fun is on the horizon as Dryden General Motors and Beyak Automotive Group donates $230,000 to the City of Dryden for the construction of a community splash park.
Mayor Greg Wilson stated, “Over the past several years, city staff have been approached by multiple residents expressing a desire to see a Splash Park developed in our community. Through this generous donation from Dryden GM and the Beyak Automotive Group, our community will see this recreational asset come to fruition.
The 2,800 square foot splash pad will cost a total of $247,000 to complete; however, with this donation from Beyak Automotive and Dryden GM, the municipality will only have to cover the remainder of the cost.
Beyak Automotive Group president, Nick Beyak, comments, “In an effort to add to Dryden’s existing recreation infrastructure, for the direct benefit of kids in our community, I have chosen to develop this Splash Park, with the full cooperation of city staff and council. I believe the aggressive timeline is achievable, so the park can be enjoyed by children this summer.”
However, Beyak Automotive Group and Dryden GM aren’t the only companies lending a hand. Canadian-based companies, Openspace Solutions Inc. and Waterplay by MAKR, will help facilitate the build by ensuring the safety and performance standards are met, so the park will meet the needs of people of all ages and abilities.
The splash pad is scheduled to begin construction in the summer of 2022 in Rotary Park beside the soccer complex.
