DRYDEN – The grand opening ceremony of the Dryden Community Splash Pad is set for Friday, Aug. 19 from 11 a.m.– 3 p.m., which will include a free community barbeque and activities for the kids.

“As we prepare to open the Dryden Community Splash Park, only a few short months after the idea’s inception, I am proud of the accomplishment and grateful to be surrounded by so many outstanding employees at the Beyak Automotive Group who helped make this happen,” announced Nick Beyak, CEO of Beyak Automotive Group.

Construction of the 2800 square foot community splash pad at Rotary Park began on July 11 and was funded in partnership with the City of Dryden by Dryden GM, who is part of the Beyak Automotive Group.

“These types of partnership efforts are very important to the city and we are most grateful to the Beyak Automotive Group for their substantial donation which invests in the health and well-being of the community for the enjoyment of visitors and residents of all ages,” said Mayor Greg Wilson.

Community Splash Pads have become a bit of a trend over recent years as more cities around the north are investing to develop them. Saying that splash pads are great for people of all ages is a bit of a cliché; however, in this case, the cliché fits. Young children have space to exhaust that endless amount of energy while also protecting themselves from overheating in the summer sun. Meanwhile, parents can be enjoying dipping their toes in the shallow water and letting their hair get wet, while also relaxing in the shade.

“Ensuring that recreation facilities of this nature are available, attractive, and accessible for all ages and abilities is of great importance to ensure that Dryden remains a great place to live, work and play,” added Steve Belanger, Manager of Community Services. “Sincere thanks to Mr. Nick Beyak and his team for the donation and services that have helped realize this wonderful facility.”

The Beyak Automotive Group doesn’t just sell vehicles. They invest themselves in the communities in which their automotive group operates.

“The entire organization is responsible for making the major community improvement a reality,” said Beyak. “I am also grateful to our thousands of customers. Without their strong support over the years, this splash park would not be possible. Lastly, I would like to thank the Staff and Council of the City of Dryden who has contributed greatly to the project’s completion. This park will bring laughter and joy to children and families for many years.”

The splash park will be open from 10:30 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. daily from Victoria Day long weekend through to September 15th annually.
