SIOUX LOOKOUT — Some residents of the Patricia Plaza seniors' living facility displaced by a weekend fire may be able to return home by the end of the week.

The fire broke out Saturday morning, forcing a complete evacuation of the facility. All residents made it out of the building without injury.

Kenora District Services Board CAO Henry Wall on Tuesday said a cause of the fire has yet to be determined, but it is known that it started in one of the apartments.

The full extent of damage still needs to be determined, Wall said, adding that crews are just starting to work at the site.

Alternative arrangements had been made for all residents of the facility, whether by staying with family members or through community partners.

Wall said he is hopeful some residents will be able to return home later this week.
