Social media post leads to charges

Two people are facing charges following a motor vehicle collision in March.

DRYDEN -- A video of a motor vehicle collision posted to social media last month has resulted in charges for two individuals.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers were notified of a social media post on Thursday, March 17 showing a single vehicle collision in Zealand Township, east of Dryden.

Officers located the video and observed a driver steering a motor vehicle side to side while travelling down a roadway.

Police say the vehicle eventually rolled onto its side and slid into a snowbank.

As a result of the above investigation, Chance JACKSON, 21, of Zealand Township has been charged with dangerous operation and failture to remain.

Police also charged Joshua HALCHUK, 22, of Wainwright Township, with adult occupant - failure to report accident and failure to notify chance of address licence.

Both accused are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Dryden on a later date.
