KENORA - Ontario Provincial Police have arrested six people over the long weekend with impaired driving.
At 1:09 p.m. on April 16, Police were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Highway 671. Treaty 3 Police and the OPP attended the scene, and it was determined that the vehicle driver had consumed alcohol. As a result of this investigation, a 27-year-old male of Kenora has been charged with;
- Operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus
At 7:33 p.m. on April 16, the OPP was dispatched to a traffic complaint of a possible impaired driver in the 900 block of Fifth Street South in the City of Kenora. Police attended, and upon speaking to the driver, it was determined they had consumed alcohol. As a result of this investigation, a 23-year-old male of Rat Portage First Nation Territory has been charged with:
- Operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus
- Operation while impaired under the influence of drugs
At 9:02 p.m. on April 16, police conducted a traffic stop on Highway 17 for a Highway Traffic Act violation. Upon speaking to the driver, Police determined that they had consumed alcohol. As a result of this investigation, a 20-year-old male from Winnipeg, Manitoba, has been charged with;
- Operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus
At approximately 12:25 a.m. on April 17, police conducted a traffic stop on Veterans Drive in the City of Kenora for a Highway Traffic Act violation. Upon speaking to the driver, Police determined the driver had consumed alcohol. As a result of this investigation, a 43-year-old male of Kenora has been charged with:
- Operation While Impaired-Blood Alcohol Concentration (80 plus)
At 6:30 a.m. on April 17, police were dispatched to a suspicious vehicle in the 1200 block of Minto Avenue. Police attended, and upon speaking to the driver, they determined they had consumed alcohol. As a result of this investigation, a 48-year-old male of Kenora has been charged with;
- Operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus
- Operation while under the influence of drugs
At approximately 2:40 p.m. on April 18, 2022, police were conducting a Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (R.I.D.E) on Highway 17 East. Upon speaking to a vehicle driver, they determined they had consumed alcohol. As a result of this investigation, a 74-year-old male of Kenora has been charged with;
- Operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus
- Operation while under the influence of drugs
Motorists who drive impaired by alcohol or drugs are subject to driver’s licence suspensions, fines, vehicle impoundments, criminal records and increased insurance costs.
