Sioux Lookout to hold a public meeting

The Municipality of Sioux Lookout will be holding a Statutory Public Meeting on Wed. Aug. 24 at 5:30 p.m. to discuss the amendments to the Zoning By-law 85-18.
Sioux Lookout
Sioux Lookout is positioning itself as a supply staging base to move freight into any future development in the Ring of Fire through an east-west corridor.

SIOUX LOOKOUT – The bylaw amendment is part of a housekeeping update for which the council must hold an open house according to the Planning Act R.S.O. 1990 before the amendments to the by-law can take place.

Although the release from Kristen Bartmann, Planning Coordinator for Sioux Lookout, does not specifically say which parts of the Zoning by-law will be amended, she did acknowledge that the “update to various sections and schedules of the current Zoning By-law” will be evaluated, which is the reason that a that the planning committee hasn’t outlined the areas that need mending.

For the public that wants to weigh in on the updates to the Zoning By-law, written comments can be sent to the Planning Coordinator in advance.

Residents can voice their comments via telephone at 807-737-2700 ext. 2234 and their comments will be transcribed and presented at the Public Meeting.

Furthermore, Council meetings are open to the public to attend; however, to speak at the public meeting, the Council asks if residents contact the Bartmann first.

Anyone wishing to provide comments or speak at the meeting must submit their request by phone or email by noon on August 24.

Additionally, for those residents who cannot join the public meeting but want to be notified of the council decision, the residents are to send a written request to the Planning Coordinator

Additional information relating to the proposed amendment can be provided at the Development Services Department at the Municipal Office, 25 Fifth Avenue, Sioux Lookout, Ontario, P8T 1A4, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday to Friday.

Information can also be made available by email or by phone at 807-737-2700 between 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m Monday to Friday.
