SIOUX LOOKOUT – The Municipal Council of Sioux Lookout is asking for public input on the intention of the new Municipal by-law to close part of a road allowance and to authorize the sale of the lands to the owners of the abutting lands at the location of Drayton Range.

The application intends to fix the accidental encroachment of the road into the surrounding private area

Only a portion of the road allowance is to be closed and sold to fix the situation and to ensure that public access along the road allowance is maintained.

This application would also transfer a portion of Abram Lake Road that is currently owned by the applicant to the municipality.

The council is asking residents to take note that the by-law will be considered by council at a virtual Public Hearing on Wednesday, June 15, at 5:30 p.m. via Zoom.

Any person wishing to comment on the proposed closing or sale is requested to submit comments in writing to the Planning Coordinator at the below address.

Due to COVID-19, if you wish to provide comments on the proposed closing or sale, please do so in writing to the Planning Coordinator in advance of the Public Hearing.

For those who cannot make it to the hearing or has trouble accessing Zoom, residents may also provide verbal comments by calling 807-737-2700 ext. 2234. The comments will be transcribed and presented at the Public Hearing.

If community members wish to participate or speak at the Public Hearing, please contact the Planning Coordinator by noon on Wednesday, June 15, 2022. You can watch the proceedings by visiting our YouTube or Facebook page, as the meeting will be livestreamed: www.facebook.com/municipalitysiouxlookout.
