SIOUX LOOKOUT—Residents of Sioux Lookout can still help reduce waste, save money and extend the life of their community landfill site, and benefit others, because the municipality “Curbside Swap” continues until May 15, 2022.

According to the Municipality, the swap is not just limited to perfectly good items that residents do not want to use anymore. “We have a lot of very handy people in the community who can fix up less than perfect items too. Unusual, unique, and special interest items can be surprisingly popular finds as well.”

While participating in this project the public is reminded to remember to follow COVID-19 safety precautions when putting items out or when picking them up.

Suggestions such as the following were shared:

  • Wash your hands before handling items you are putting out.
  • Spread items out so they're easy to see without having to move other items around.
  • Disinfect any item you pick up before taking it home.
  • Practice physical distancing.
  • Wash or sanitize your hands often.

Residents are encouraged to extend the life of the landfill, and have some fun as their junk becomes someone else's treasures, all for free.

Curbside Swap will continue every last Saturday of the month.

The public is asked to join the Sioux Lookout KT-Curbside Swap group on Facebook to find out what deals are out there waiting for them:
