SIOUX LOOKOUT—The community of Sioux Lookout came out on Sunday, April 3 to witness a worthwhile event.
It was game day for the “Battle of the Badges” Charity Hockey game, which started at noon at Sioux Lookout Memorial Arena.
The “Battle” had the Sioux Lookout Firefighters face-off against the Sioux Lookout OPP, to see who would skate away victoriously, with bragging rights. Admission was $5. Proceeds were donated to a bursary dedicated to Sierra Hoppe, a well-known and popular young athlete who recently passed away.
About two hundred people attended the event to watch the Sioux Lookout Fire Department out-skate a great hockey team, the Sioux Lookout OPP; as they skated away winners. The score was 6-4 for the firefighters.
The event was able to raise $2,000 to help set up this bursary in Sierra Hoppe’s name.
