Severe thunderstorm watch in effect for parts of the region

Conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms starting Thursday afternoon.

Unpredictable nature of severe weather patterns is making the lives of farmers more difficult. Growing conditions have become anything but predictable in Canada and elsewhere.

NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO -- Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm watch for parts of the region.

The government weather agency says conditions are favourable for the development of dangerous thunderstorms that may be capable of producing damaging wind gusts and large hail.

Clusters of thunderstorms with gusty winds up to 100 kilometres an hour may develop Thursday afternoon and into the evening. 

Very strong wind gusts can damage buildings, down trees and blow large vehicles off the road. Be prepared for severe weather. Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches.

  • Kenora - Grassy Narrows - Whitedog
  • Ear Falls - Perrault Falls - Western Lac Seul
  • Red Lake - Woodland Caribou Park
  • Savant Lake - Sturgeon Lake
  • Sioux Lookout - Eastern Lac Seul
