Severe thunderstorm warning in effect

A severe thunderstorm is expected to hit parts of the region Friday.

NORTHWESTERN ONTARIO -- Environment Canada has issued a severe thunderstorm warning for parts of the region.

The government weather agency is tracking a severe thunderstorm on Friday capable of producing 90 kilometre an hour winds, nickel size hail and heavy rain.

This severe thunderstorm is located 19 kilometres north of South Atikaki Provincial Park, moving east at 80 kilometres an hour.

Take cover immediately, if threatening weather approaches. Large hail can damage property and cause injury. Strong wind gusts can toss loose objects, damage weak buildings, break branches off trees and overturn large vehicles.

 

Severe thunderstorm warning in effect for:

  • Red Lake - Woodland Caribou Park
  • Pikangikum - Poplar Hill - MacDowell
  • Sandy Lake - Weagamow Lake - Deer Lake
  • Sachigo Lake - Bearskin Lake
