UPDATED: Highway 17 reopened after fatal accident in Ignace area

A mishap involving a motorcycle resulted in fatal injuries

IGNACE — Ontario Provincial Police reopened Highway 17 in the Ignace area Tuesday evening following a fatal collision earlier in the day.

OPP did not release details, but Ontario 511 reported that a motorcycle collision had resulted in fatal injuries.

Police said the motorcycle was the only vehicle involved in the incident, and that it occurred in the vicinity of the intersection with Highway 622.

The collision forced the closure of both lanes of the Trans-Canada Highway for hours.
