Search warrant leads to seizure of drugs in Kenora

A Kenora resident has been remanding into custody following a search warrant.

KENORA -- A search warrant on Wednesday has led to the arrest of one Kenora resident.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, embers of the Kenora Community Street Crime Unit with assistance from the Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau, Provincial Operations Intelligence Bureau and Kenora OPP officers executed a search warrant at a Matheson Street residence in Kenora.

Police say several items were seized including, several stun guns, surveillance equipment, collapsible baton, cell phone, bear spray, police scanner, digital scale, packaging materials and a large quantity of cash.  Also seized was a quantity of crystal meth and hydromorphone tablets.

Police arrested and charged Ashley REID, 33, from Kenora with five counts of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of possession of proceeds of crime, failure to comply with a release order, trafficking in a schedule 1 substance - opioid and two counts of possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking - methamphetamine.

As a result, the accused was remanded into custody pending a bail hearing on April 7.
