KENORA—The City of Kenora continues to face challenges caused by increased water levels, flooding and washed-out roadways, and rural roads.
In an effort to help residents protect their properties from flooding, they are offering them sandbags for pick up and fill.
Sandbags are ready for pick-up at Fire Station 1, 100, 14th Street North as well as down from the Fire Hall on 14th Street North on the north side of the street, near the Operations Centre.
On the advice of the Ministry of Northern Development, Mines, Natural Resources and Forestry, the city is making sandbags available to local residents as well as homeowners in the area surrounding the City of Kenora, in what their announcement describes as, “The unorganized territory.”
Non-residents can pick up sandbags at the Ministry Office on Robertson Street.
As a further update to road crew work, households were told that, crews are currently focusing their work on the East Melick/Essex Road intersection to address flooding in that area. As a result, motorists are encouraged to use alternate routes and avoid this area.
Further information about sandbag availability can be found by visiting the city's website.
