Reports of a suspicious object closed Dryden schools

After OPP received a report of a suspicious object in Dryden on Wednesday, three local schools went into lockdown.

DRYDEN - Several Dryden schools were closed Wednesday over reports of a "suspicious object."

At approximately 1:23 p.m., OPP officers received information regarding a group of individuals with a suspicious object on Parkdale Road.

As a precautionary measure, St. Joseph School, Open Roads School and Dryden High School were placed in lockdown, police said.

Members of the Dryden OPP investigated the report and conducted an extensive search of the area. 

The school lockdown was lifted at 2:20 p.m. when police updated the schools.

OPP Provincial Const. Brittany Bembeneck said investigators have not yet been able to determine what the suspicious object was, and police are appealing to the public for further information.
