DRYDEN — A 59-year-old man faces drug trafficking charges after being stopped at a RIDE checkpoint over the weekend.

Provincial police said officers were conducting a RIDE program stop in Machin on Saturday, when a driver who was stopped refused a request to provide a breath sample.

Officers placed the man under arrest. As they further investigated, police found suspected methamphetamine, cocaine, and cash.

The accused, a man from Machin, is charged with two counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking, failure or refusal to comply with a demand, and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in a Dryden courtroom next month.
