RED LAKE -- Recent St. John School graduate, Isabella Cianci, was one of four Northwestern Ontario U14 girls and one of only 96 girls province wide that was selected by the Ontario Volleyball Association to participate in beach/court volleyball at this year’s Ontario Summer Games in Mississauga, which took place from July 22 - 24.

For her efforts she came home to Red Lake with a bronze medal.

When asked about her experience Cianci stated: “It was the coolest thing I have ever seen or done. Being on the court passing the ball to a teammate, hitting the ball over the net, cheering on my teammates, my teammates cheering me on, or getting feedback from my coaches was amazing. Everyone there was so supportive, helpful, kind, and funny. I made a lot of new friends, learned so much and I would 100 per cent do it again. I am so happy I got the opportunity to do this. Like I said before, I had an absolute blast and it was an amazing experience.”

This fall, Cianci will be going into Grade 9 and attending Red Lake District High School, which she hopes to be representing her school on the volleyball court as an integral member of the 2022/2023 Junior Girls Volleyball Team and continuing her overall development as a volleyball player.
