RED LAKE, Ont. – An 18-year-old Red Lake man faces impaired driving and weapons charges after police officers observed his vehicle off the roadway along Highway 105 on Thursday.

Officers from the Red Lake and Ear Falls OPP detachments arrested the suspect shortly after making that discovery near Tuzyk's Road, outside of Red Lake.

In a release, the OPP says officers determined the man was showing signs of impairment and brought him back to the detachment, where he allegedly refused officers’ demand for further tests.

The man stands charged with impaired operation, refusal to comply with demand, unauthorized possession of a weapon, and driving while under suspension.

The accused was released from custody, and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Red Lake in April.
