RED LAKE – A Red Lake resident is facing impaired driving charges following an afternoon traffic stop.
According to a Red Lake and Ear Falls Ontario Provincial Police release, officers initiated a traffic stop on Saturday, Aug. 6 just before 4 p.m. along Hammell Road, within the Municipality of Red Lake.
Through investigation, it was determined that the operator of the motor vehicle had been consuming alcohol.
Police say the officer made a demand for an approved screening device breath sample.
The driver failed, was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation, a 37-year-old, of Red Lake, was charged with operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80 plus).
He was released by way of undertaking for Red Lake court on Sept. 15, 2022 to answer to the charges.
