RED LAKE – Over the weekend, the Municipality of Red Lake issued a boil-water advisory for Balmertown, Cochenour, McKenzie Island, and McMarmac.

The cause was due to an infrastructure failure within the reservoirs of the Cochenour Water Treatment Plant, according to the town.

To guarantee safety, the town advises all water should be boiled for at least one minute if it is used for human consumption.

Chief Administrative Officer Trilbee Stirling-Kattler said: “The Municipality is investigating the cause of failure.  We are unable to estimate how long the advisory will last at this time.”
