RED LAKE, Ont - A late night traffic stop has led to the arrest of a 35-year-old Red Lake resident.
Officers from the Red Lake Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police initiated a traffic stop on April 12 at around 11:45 p.m. on a motor vehicle along Fifth Street, Balmertown, within the Municipality of Red Lake.
Through investigation, it was determined that the motor vehicle operator had consumed alcoholic beverages. The driver was placed under arrest and returned to the detachment for further tests.
As a result of the investigation, the 35-year-old male of Red Lake was charged with:
- Impaired driving under the influence of alcohol and drugs.
- Having a blood alcohol concentration (80 plus).
He was released by Undertaking for Red Lake court on May 19 to answer the charges.
