RED LAKE — Due to another water main break, the Municipality of Red Lake imposed another boil water advisory for McMarmac Road and McMarmac Place residents.
As a result of this second water main break, the municipality cannot guarantee that human consumption of the water is safe. Therefore, all water should be boiled for one minute if used for drinking. Boiling the water removes harmful bacteria in the water that may lead to illness.
Their Public Works department advised residents in this area that, once the water is boiled, it can be stored in the refrigerator in a clean food safe container and should be used for activities where it may be ingested. They shared a list including:
- Brushing teeth or soaking false teeth, washing fruits and vegetables, adding to uncooked food or drink, ice cubes and water for pets.
This advisory will remain in effect until notice to rescind is issued, by the municipality.
More information regarding the reasons for or length of the advisory can be attained by calling Public Works at 807-727-2597
