Rainy River OPP charge three people with impaired driving offences

FORT FRANCES -- Three people are facing impaired driving charges following three separate impaired driving incidents.

According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers received a traffic complaint on Friday, May 6 at 12:30 a.m. of a possible impaired driving in Fort Frances.

Police say the suspect vehicle was located in the east end of Fort Frances and a traffic stop was conducted.

The officer determined that the driver had consumed alcohol and was arrested and brought to the Fort Frances Detachment for further testing.

As a result, a 46-year-old of Naotkamgwanning First Nation was charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired - blood concentration (80 plus)

Later in the day at 10 pm, officers observe a traffic infraction and conducted a traffic stop in Fort Frances, the investigation determined that the driver had consumed alcohol.

The driver was arrested at the scene and brought to the Fort Frances Detachment for further tests.

A 30-year-old of Fort Frances was charged with operation while prohibited, operation while impaired - alcohol or drugs and failure to comply with undertaking.

Police conducted another traffic stop in the early morning hours of Sunday, May 8 in Fort Frances.

Police say the investigating officer determined that the driver had been consuming alcohol.

The driver was arrested and brought to the Fort Frances detachment for further tests.

As a result of the investigation, a 34-year-old of Fort Frances has been charged with operation while impaired - alcohol and drugs and operation while impaired - blood concentration (80 plus) and operation while prohibited.

The three drivers have had a 90-day Administrative Driver's License Suspension and a seven-day vehicle impoundment was initiated as per statute. The accused are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Fort Frances at a later date to answer to the charges.
