FORT FRANCES – Twelve people are facing charges following an investigation into drug trafficking in the Rainy River District.
According to an Ontario Provincial Police release, officers executed search warrants on Wednesday, March 2 at two residences on the 400 block of Partage Avenue South in Fort Frances.
Police seized fentanyl, methamphetamine, cocaine, hydromorphone and Xanax.
Cash, evidence of drug trafficking and weapons including a firearm were also seized.
As a result of the investigation, 12 people have been charged with a total of 75 charges.
Included in the people charged are Robert Gouliquer, 43, of no fixed address.
He has been charged with two counts of possession of schedule I substance (fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of schedule I substance (methamphetamine) for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of schedule I substance (hydromorphone) for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of schedule IV substance (Xanax) for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000, possession of firearm or ammunition, two counts of knowledge of unauthorized possession of a weapon, careless storage of a firearm, knowledge of unauthorized possession of firearm and failure to comply.
Police also charged Lindsey Allen, 33, of no fixed address, with two counts of possession of schedule I substance (fentanyl) for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of schedule I substance (methamphetamine) for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of schedule I substance (hydromorphone) for the purpose of trafficking, two counts of possession of schedule IV substance (Xanax) for the purpose of trafficking, unauthorized possession of a weapon, possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000.
Gouliquer and Allen are currently in custody and will appear in bail court on March 10.
The remaining accused have been released from custody, to appear in court at a later date in Fort Frances Provincial Court.
